A month after seeing Ed Sheeran live, Kim and I were on our way to see The Script. The opening act was done by JP Cooper, who we both didn't know until "September song" came on. We came to the Brisbane Entertainment Center early and found a spot real close to the stage. They gave an amazing show and they walked all through the crowd, however, they did not come any closer to us. |
The Wednesday after the concert was ANZAC day, the twins were going to walk in the ANZAC day march and we attended the service in the morning. In the afternoon Chris and I went to the movies to see the incredible Infinity Wars, from the very first row in the cinema because it was so busy.
On the weekend Dani, Shannon and I had planned a catch up. Unfortunately Shannon could not make it, but that did not take away any of the fun that Dani and I had.
The Friday after was Chris's birthday and I had arranged for us to go to a teppanyaki restaurant and he only found out where we were going as we were driving there. We had a lovely meal and a delicious birthday desert. Unfortunately that was the only day of the weekend I could spend with him, since the Australian Beachhandball Team had asked if I could help them out on their second to last training camp before going off to Russia for the 2018 World Championships.

Thankfully, the Monday was Labour Day and thus, another public holiday. Time to do another roadtrip for the day, off to Sea World this time. We saw dolphins, seals and all other sorts of beautiful sea creatures, as well as stunting jetskis. The continuous rain did not spoil our fun, but the jetskis had to take it a bit easy.
On Tuesday I flew to Sydney for the day to get an xray of my chest for my New Zealand visa. I flew out early in the morning, had a coffee with Hui, a stroll through the Harbour and the botanical gardens and the best cheesecake I've ever had before getting the xray done and flying back to Brissy.

Mother's day was spent with breakfast at the Nonnies, lunch with the Nappies and a phone call where my mum told me to fuck off, because I should think of her on other days as well, not only on mother's day. The week after, all the kids had their Naplan exams and to celebrate them being over, we went out for a game of bowling and some laser gaming.
On the last Friday before going to Geelong to compete at the Australian Open Club Championships, we went out to dinner at a seafood restaurant, which turned out to be Chinese instead of regular seafood. We did some team bonding and the Wednesday after we finally left to go to Melbourne. 5 games planned during the 4 day tournament and we got to the finals by losing only one game. Unfortunately we didn't have the manpower to win the final, but I did get to play outfield, as well as in goals and took home the medal for best goalkeeper once again. The men (including Chris) did really well as well, taking home the bronze medal.
Winning my 7th placement medal and 5th best goalkeeper medal seems like a good way to end my handball career in Australia. I have played in the finals of all the mayor tournaments (didn't win all of them, unfortunately) and got the best goalkeeper in all of them as well. It is time to seek out new opportunities.

Another 6 weeks past and only 3 more months until my days in Australia come to a close, at least for now. It's time to get ready for the next adventure, New Zealand here I come :)
Cheers!
